The Chinese New Year is celebrated in NBA 2K18 with new MyTeam players. Four cards are available to collect. Three of these cards are found in packs and one is earned by completing an in-game activity. The players chosen to celebrate this event are Michael Beasley, Stephon Marbury, Yao Ming, and Jeremy Lin. The developers wanted to add two of the most famous Chinese players who were part of NBA teams and also American players who had great performances on the Chinese basketball scene.
Michael Beasley is represented in this collection by a 93 OVR amethyst card. The image on the card depicts him in his Houston Rockets uniform, a team he was part of for one season. Beasley started his NBA career in 2008. After switching a few teams, he joined Shanghai Sharks in 2014. Some of his greatest CBA accomplishments include the most number of points scored in an All-Star Game in 2015. After a brief return to Miami Heat, he joined Shandong Golden Stars. He was named best foreign MVP. Stephon Marbury is represented by a 97 OVR diamond card. He began his NBA career in 1996 with the Minnesota Timberwolves. After 13 years in the NBA during which he was also part of New Jersey Nets, Phoenix Suns, New York Knicks, and the Bolton Celtics he started his CBA career alongside Shanxi Zhongyu Brave Dragons. He also played for the Foshan Dralions and the Beijing Ducks, a team he won the championship with for three years. Currently, he is part of Beijing Fly Dragons. He announced he will retire at the end of the 2018 season. The best card of this set is Yao Ming 99 OVR pink diamond. He is one of the most well-known Chinese basketball players thanks to his long NBA career with the Houston Rockets. Some of his NBA awards include NBA All-Star and NBA All-Rookie Team. Currently, he is retired from the NBA but he is still involved in basketball as the president of the CBA. All these cards are found in packs. The other available card is acquired from a Moments activity. Players can get amethyst Jeremy Lin by taking part in the Moments challenge.
