NBA 2K21 Reveals Current-Gen Trailer
2020-08-18 15:53
NBA 2K21 fans were regaled with a new trailer. The one minute and a half video showed current-gen gameplay. It also hinted at one of the most terrifying issues humanity is fighting for the past months. “Light turned off, arenas went quiet, but the game never stopped”. These words appear in the trailer. Most likely, this refers to the pandemic outbreak that stopped the majority of the sports events, including the NBA. The matches were put on hold but the players continued enjoying their favorite basketball-based game.
For some, being able to play their favorite game is what gets them through these trying times when we must refrain from taking part in our preferred pastimes that include going out and meeting other people. We are lucky that we have games such as the NBA 2K series to keep us entertained while staying indoors. We are also glad that the development team is on schedule and we will have the NBA 2K21 game at the beginning of September. This falls in the regular release schedule for the NBA 2K series.
The trailer features Damian Lillard and several other well-known NBA players. Lillard is the cover star for the 2020 installment. This player has the point guard position. He started his professional career in 2012 alongside the Portland Trail Blazers and he is with them ever since. His accolades include multiple awards such as NBA All-Star, All-NBA First Team, NBA Rookie of the Year, and J. Walter Kennedy Citizenship Award. The trailer has soundtrack by popular rapper Stormzy. We have the chance to get a glimpse of the visuals.
There's no denying that the team in charge of the graphics did a great job once again. The graphics capture the players' movement on the field and the atmosphere during the games. There's nothing to complain when it comes to graphics. If current-gen looks this good, imagine how the game will look on next-gen. The trailer teases some of the new NBA 2K21 features. We can see the new shot meter. We can also see the players performing some dunks and dribbles that were not in NBA 2K20.
Unfortunately, the trailer doesn't tell anything about the game's modes and whether we will see a new mode or activity. We will most likely get a developers' blog in the coming weeks that will tell more about the new mechanics and features. NBA 2K21 can already be pre-ordered. The deal includes some goodies and also the possibility to upgrade to next-gen when the consoles come out later this year.
