2019-11-19 13:08

NBA 2K20 players look forward to a new tournament that will begin in 2019. Global Championship is the newest NBA 2K professional competition that welcomes players from all around the globe. The company behind the game entered a partnership with the NBA and ESL. This is the second partnership between 2K and NBA. Two years ago, the NBA 2K League was created and now, the third league season is taking place. Whereas the league features team competitions, the Global Championship has 1 versus 1 games. Players will take part in head-to-head games that are played online and offline. The events will start in October 2019 and conclude in February 2020 with the grand final that will be played live in the USA. Players that want to enter the competition are invited to register on the official website.

The tournament begins with the open qualifiers that start October 5th. Players have until November 26th to take part in this first event. The weekly qualifiers will single out the best eight players from their region. The games have double elimination Swiss bracket rules. Players can take part in as many qualifiers as they wish. After the qualifier event ends, the three regional finals will follow. The Asia-Pacific Regional Finals will take place on December 14th. The European Regional Finals are played on January 25th. Five days after, the Americas Regional follows on February 1st.  Each regional finals event is a LAN tournament that will determine who goes to the grand final. The matches follow single elimination bracket rules. The grand finale will be played on February 22nd. Eight players will compete in a best of three elimination bracket. The prize pool for each regional is $15,000. The winner of the final goes home with $100,000. Those who are interested in entering the tournament have to meet a few requirements. Obviously, you need to own the game. Now comes the disappointing part. Only Xbox One and PlayStation 4 players can enter the competition. You need to be at least 16 years old and have signed permission from parents if under 18.

Many will sign up for the Global Championship but more will be happy with just following the competition. If you want to keep up with the happenings and cheer up for your favorite players, you have the chance to watch the regional and final events. Players can stream their online qualifiers and playoffs.
